GETTING STARTED
CLI and VS Code
Install Cenmax AI in your terminal or Visual Studio Code.
CLI and VS Code
Cenmax AI provides both a command-line client and a Visual Studio Code extension.
Choose whichever fits your normal development workflow. You can use the same Cenmax AI account with either client.
Install the CLI
The Cenmax AI CLI is published through npm.
Install it globally:
npm install -g maxlabs
You can also review the source and releases here:
After installation, start the CLI from your terminal and follow the sign-in flow.
The browser authorization flow uses your Cenmax AI account at:
https://console.ai.cenmax.in
The CLI is a good choice for:
- Terminal-first development
- Repository-wide tasks
- Long-running agent sessions
- Remote development environments
- Shell-based workflows
- Developers who do not want an editor-specific integration
Install VS Code
Install the Cenmax AI extension directly from the Visual Studio Marketplace:
The source repository is also available on GitHub:
After installation, open Cenmax AI in VS Code and sign in to your account.
The extension is a good choice when you want:
- Cenmax AI inside your normal editor
- Repository-aware development assistance
- Code changes without switching applications
- Integrated chat and agent workflows
Which Should You Use?
Use the CLI when you prefer the terminal or want a lightweight client that works independently of an editor.
Use VS Code when you want Cenmax AI integrated directly into your coding environment.
You do not need separate subscriptions for each client. Usage is associated with the Cenmax AI account you sign in with.
